Course description

Take your food photography to the next level at this workshop in Sydney.

Amazing food photos are gold – they can make or break your foodie blog, send your instagram likes soaring or bring hungry customers via your Facebook page.

But it’s not as easy as you’d think to nail that laidback latte or effortless eggs shot – and that’s why some lucky folks call food styling their day job. Meet professional food stylist/photographer Alex Squadrito. A content producer in digital marketing, he’s also the guy behind the lens at the wickedly tempting Insta page @4foodssake, and food/travel/lifestyle blog ForFoodsSake.

At this 3-hour workshop Alex will take you through the fundamentals of food styling so you can create amazing food images using the things you have at home – even your smartphone!

You’ll get the basic skills (and loads of tips, tricks and confidence) to plate, style and compose some very “likeable” and tasty food pics.

Ideal for…

This class is perfect for food bloggers, instagrammers and café owners wanting to improve their food styling and photography. It is also suitable for home cooks and foodies who want to learn more about plating and styling.

Course content

This 3-hour hands-on workshop will cover the basics of food styling and photography as you plate and style up three picture-perfect dishes.

  • Grilled triple-decker sandwich (the toastie with the mostie)
  • A sweet-as Oozing Waffle Stack (pass the syrup please)

  • Plating your dishes and using props to create context
  • Lighting
  • Composition: how to fill the space, how to use negative space
  • Finishing and posting your images

Please note: This is not a cooking class, so you’ll be working with high quality pre-prepared foods.
