Are you ready for the next step? This Intermediate general English course is designed to give students the opportunity to move to the next level with their English language learning. Over eight weeks students will improve their skills and gain confidence in what they already know through conversation, listening, reading and writing.

Who should attend?

This Intermediate English course is for adults learning English as a second language. This course is set at an intermediate level. Students must be able to communicate in English information about their lives, family, home country and interests. Students may attend this course more than once, until they feel ready for the Advanced course.

If you want to learn and improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English, then this course is for you.

During this English 102 Course the intention is that all or some of the following will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

  • Conversational English (including colloquialisms, idioms, and Aussie expressions)
  • Listening practice (including short transcription practice for intensive listening and accurate understanding).
  • Reading a variety of texts of interest to the students
  • Writing for a variety of purposes, depending on the needs of the class.
  • Grammar, vocabulary extension and individual help with pronunciation as needed
  • Option: Oral presentation. Students who would like to, will have the opportunity to prepare and give a short informal talk to the class.

Students are encouraged to actively participate in the selection of topics and learning materials during the course.

During the course students will gain enough practice and experience to speak and write English with confidence and will have improved their speaking, listening, reading and writing in a variety of contexts and situations necessary for everyday use.
