Designed for anyone who can speak, understand, read and write some English, this English Beginners course will help to improve your conversation skills in a variety of everyday situations and help you learn how to read and write different kinds of texts.

By the end of this English course, you should:
- Have practised and improved speaking, listening, reading and writing in a variety of contexts.
- Have gained a better understanding of the English language
- Develop more confidence in speaking, reading and writing
Course content
What will be covered in this English course?
You will practice expressing your ideas and opinions more confidently and communicate effectively in English so that others can better understand you.
During the course, the intention is that all or some of the following will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.
- Conversational English including idioms and Aussie expressions
- Listening practice for accurate understanding and comprehension
- Expanding on your vocabulary
- Grammar: nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns, word order and numbers
- Reading a variety of texts of interest to the students
- Writing for a variety of purposes, depending on the needs of the class
- Learning about the Australian culture
Intended audience
Who is this English course for?
This course is for people who are learning English as a second language and already speak some English. Students must already know the alphabet and have a basic English vocabulary.
Students may attend this course more than once until they feel ready for the Intermediate course.

- Requirement: A device and stable internet connection.

Do I need to buy a textbook?
No textbook is required as tutors provide all materials. However, if you want to buy a dictionary, ask your tutor in the first class which dictionary they recommend.
