In this course, you’ll practise expressing ideas in more detail, understanding longer conversations, and responding more naturally in everyday interactions. Lessons are practical, interactive and supportive, helping you build confidence step by step.
Whether you’re learning English for work, study or everyday life, this course will help you develop the skills needed to communicate more effectively in a range of contexts.

Who is this Pre-Intermediate English course for?
This course is suitable for learners who:
- Have completed a Beginner English course or have equivalent knowledge
- Have approximately 20–40 hours of prior English learning
- Want to improve their confidence in speaking and understanding English
- Are preparing for work, study or everyday communication in English
- Are building practical English skills for community or workplace settings
Pre-requisite:
To enrol in this course, it is recommended that you:
- Have completed a Beginner English course \ or have equivalent proficiency
- Have a basic understanding of English grammar and sentence structure
- Are able to read and write simple English texts

Course materials
What to bring to class
- All learning materials and resources will be provided by your tutor. No textbook is required for this course.
You may wish to bring:
- A notebook and pen
- An English dictionary (if you would like to purchase a dictionary, your tutor can recommend a suitable option during the first class)
- An A4 folder for storing worksheets
Certificate of completion
Students who attend at least 80% of the course will receive a Certificate of Attendance from Sydney Community College.
This certificate recognises your commitment to improving your English language skills and can support your personal or professional development.
