Feedback from past students

"I wanted to send you a note to let you know how much I enjoyed your course. I learnt a lot about comedy and myself! You are a good teacher and inspired me. I never thought I could get up and do that... you made it a safe environment where it was OK not to be great. Now you’ve created a monster…I’m writing stuff in my head all the time. Even look forward to our showcase event. Sorry, some of my material involves you- I know you’ll appreciate being a star :) Anyway, I thought today, you don’t get more ‘fish out of water’ than a barrister at a community college stand up comedy course- so I’m milking that for what its worth. I will send you some of my material for your comments."

"Rob was engaging, kept a good pace going through the content of the course, added a great amount of value through providing relevant and fun examples to reinforce a point and had great rapport with the whole group from the very beginning. Whilst Rob clearly has solid experience in the industry it’s his love of what he does and his ability to create an environment where everyone could really put themselves out there, be comfortable and stretch themselves that stood out for me. I personally enjoyed Rob’s no bull approach, openness with the group (which encouraged the same in others), and his ability to give constructive and growth feedback was excellent. A great tutor and asset to the College. I’d do another course knowing that Rob was at the helm and/or with a different course if your tutors are all of the same calibre.... A great, well informed and fun course overall...Thank you."

"Rob is very prepared and easy to learn from. It delivered what I was hoping for."

"Rob was a great communicator; easy going."

"He knew the ropes as well as any experienced comedian as he has obvious passion for the art of laughter, Rob had no problem in educating & advising all the class of the pit falls, psychology etc...great job!"

"Has made me more aware of many things needed to succeed in comedy...such as delivery, timing, mic work, ingredients, topics etc...Only to say I am so glad I took the course as my confidence level is much higher..."

"Rob, is an excellent teacher. Practical and knowledgeable. Rob was very knowledgeable, good natured and funny. His lessons were clear and he gave us a lot of examples to demonstrate his points. It was a very good course and Rob is a great teacher. He also puts on end of course showcase at a club which is wonderful for budding performers."

"Absolutely loved this course. Rob is entertaining, experienced and passionate about comedy. So glad i enrolled."

"The stand up comedy course exceeded all expectations due to: 1. Rob – he is a wonderful teacher. Passionate, Experienced and created a comfortable learning environment where we felt confident enough to contribute to class discussions and learn. 2. Content – there was structure to the course, homework got you thinking about the “theory” behind comedy 3. Practical – with a stand up comedy night we have committed to, it puts everything into practice."

"Rob McHugh is a great teacher. He walks his talk ... he has a funny walk."
