Sydney Community College has a range of ways to help people living with disability access adult learning.

Access2Ed – Free courses (previously called ICEP)

With funding from the NSW Department of Family & Community Services – Ageing, Disability & Home Care Division, SCC provide recreational, learning and leisure courses for adults living with disability. These courses are designed to help students achieve social, educational and life goals in conjunction with their individual plans. These courses are also designed to give carers a break from their usual caring responsibilities.

Access to free courses

Under the current funding, to be eligible for these courses, a student must:

  • be aged 18 years or over
  • live with an unpaid carer (eg, a parent, other relative or nominated carer)
  • live with that unpaid carer in one the following Local Government Areas: Botany Bay City, City of Sydney, Hurstville City, Kogarah, Randwick City, Rockdale City, Waverley, Woollahra, Inner West, Burwood, Canada Bay City, Canterbury area of Canterbury-Bankstown City, and Strathfield.

Priority is given to people who are socially isolated (or at risk of social isolation) and/or have limited access to recreation or leisure activities.

Access2Ed – Affordable courses for a fee

Sydney Community College offers a range of affordable short courses specially designed to support students living with a disability to get involved in the local community. To find out about current courses on offer click here: https://www.sydneycommunitycollege.edu.au/courses?s=disability

These courses give students a chance to meet others, socialise and learn new skills with support from a disability professional. These courses do not have eligibility criteria and are open to all students 18 years or over. To cover costs, there is a minimum enrolment number of 6-8 students before the course can proceed.

Before enrolling, please call the Access2Ed Coordinator on (02) 8752 7571 to discuss your individual support needs, or email icep@sydneycommunitycollege.edu.au.

If you find a course you are interested in attending, we would like to help you access and participate! The College encourages students living with a disability to organise their own support, if required, to attend courses. For approved courses, you may bring a paid support worker, family member or friend as a supporter for no extra fee.
