Learn how to make music in our Ableton music production course in Sydney

Become a Beatmaker and gain the skills you need to start to make your own music. Do you have a passion for electronic music and a head swimming with ideas but find yourself baffled by the interface for industry software such as Ableton Live? This course is for you.

Our short course aims to provide students with an understanding of the design and many unique functions and features of Ableton Live. With practical exercises in importing/exporting standard music and audio file formats, creating and editing MIDI, sound design and basic mixing. Everything you need to know to become the next big bedroom producer.

This course is suitable for

Anyone looking for an introduction into electronic music production. Producers with experience in other digital audio workstations (DAW) who are looking to expand their knowledge to include Ableton Live. And those who simply need a refresher course with an industry professional. Course is highly technical. Basic to intermediate knowledge of computers is assumed and required.

Please come prepared with your own headphones and USB stick required so you can save your work. Sydney Community College can provide basic headphones but bringing your own good quality audio device is encouraged.

About the tutor

Steven is an international Music Producer/Sound Engineer/Sound Designer with over 5 years of professional experience in the entertainment industry.
Having worked with big labels such as Universal Music and Warner Music, as well as on products by Native Instruments and Roland UK. Steven has done everything from filling various roles at big music festivals, audio trade shows to standing in canyons recording foley sounds.

Steven has also had experience giving lectures and classes abroad, teaching many about music production, sound design and various advances in audio technology. As technology seems to be advancing so quickly these days Steven feels it is an import thing to stay up to date so he will only be teaching the latest techniques to keep his students up to date with todays modern trends in music production and sound design.
