Course description

Cooking classes Sydney - learn cake decorating for beginners essentials

Learn how to cover a cake with smooth fondant at this workshop in Sydney.

It’s “no experience necessary” for this creative class, as we unlock some of the secrets behind fondant and ganache – and how to get a smooth and gorgeous finish, ready for decorating.

Along with a few laughs (and a cuppa or two), you’ll get loads of creative tips and skills for achieving that professional finish using low cost tools and equipment found in most kitchens… (no need to break the bank buying all that fancy gear).

And once the fondant’s smoothed over that 7" choc mud cake, we’ll help you lose the fear and get your creative on to drip, sculpt and decorate your sweet-art like a bake-off contestant.

Please note: we are not able to provide substitute ingredients for people with allergies.

Course content
  • introduction to rolled fondant and chocolate ganache
  • how to colour your own fondant
  • prepare, sandwich and mask a 7-inch chocolate mud cake with ganache (cake supplied)
  • apply rolled fondant, smooth and polish with sharp corners
  • how to create simple fondant decorations, plus tips on how to dress a cake for a professional finish.

Beginners and more experienced cooks who want to learn cake decorating skills.

Materials provided

All ingredients, “naked” cakes, tools and take home cake box are included in the course fee.
