Course description

Learn to speak Indonesian in Sydney with this Level 3 continuer’s class.

Whether you want to learn Indonesian language for business, travel or just for fun, you’ll take your skills to the next level with this informal, practical and interactive course in the Sydney CBD.

This Level 3 course will consolidate what you have learned and help you further expand your vocabulary, introduce a deeper study of practical grammar using the Grammar book listed and understanding of Bahasa Indonesian. The course provides new situational topics to give you a wider vocabulary and plenty of speaking and listening practice.

This course is suitable for:
Students who have completed approximately 40 hours of previous learning in Indonesian, for example ‘Indonesian Level 1’ and ‘Level 2’.

Learning objectives

By the end of this Indonesian Level 3 Class you will have learned how to:

  • use more advanced conversational skills in everyday situations at work and home
  • make phone enquiries about renting accommodation
  • talk about your health at a visit to the doctor
  • seek help in situations, such as emergencies
  • plan travel itineraries
  • fill in forms, write notes, messages and letters to friends
  • practise new vocabulary and grammar through basic writing tasks
  • develop your techniques and skills to exchange views and solve problems using Indonesian conversational etiquette
  • have better fluency in conversation, speaking with more confidence, better pronunciation and extended vocabulary
  • have an expanded understanding of Indonesia, its culture and customs.

The curriculum may be adapted slightly to suit the needs of the class. The topics above will be covered during this course, but not necessarily in the order given.

The book costs approximately $70 as book only. However, to assist you in further learning outside the classroom, you may also consider buying the full set of textbook, activity book plus audio CD for approximately $120.

Please note: sometimes a course start date is postponed until there are enough enrolments. It is therefore wise to purchase your textbook after your course has been confirmed (usually within three working days of the proposed start).

What to bring to class

Please bring your textbook, a notebook and pen to every class. Studnets will continuing to work through Keren Book 1 and move into Book 2.
