In this spoon carving course in Sydney learn to carve a wooden spoon from locally sourced green timber. You will be taught how to correctly use green woodworking tools, including a froe and maul to split the initial logs into more manageable pieces, a hatchet and hatchet block to do the rough shaping of your spoon, a hook knife to carve the bowl of the spoon and a sloyd knife for the fine shaping.

Enjoy carving a variety of different spoons using an easy to follow step-by-step guide. Students will also gain a more intimate understanding of timber as a material, how to work with it and how to best take advantage of its natural properties to reduce wastage.
