Join sculptor Cherry Corr for a fun and relaxing class learning how to twist and form your own random weaving using only garden waste and natural materials. That’s right – the materials for this class are entirely collected from plants in the area. You’ll be using just a few simple tools, some easy to learn techniques – plus a little clever engineering – to create functional, sculptural forms celebrating the natural beauty of plants.
Course outcomes
By the end of this course you will have learned:
- a brief history of random weaving and how it differs from other basketry techniques
- an understanding of the structural and decorative elements of random weave
- what plants to use
- to create your own random weave vessel to take home

This course is suitable for beginners and people who want to extend their handcraft, weaving and/or sculpture techniques.
Materials
All materials supplied.
Please come prepared
- Please bring 2 old bath towels to work on
- Bring a large bag / tote bag to take your work and any extra materials home
- There will be a short lunch break only, so please bring lunch/snacks
- Bring a water bottle and your own cup if you want to make tea/coffee
- Closed-in shoes required
- Please wear comfortable clothes that can get messy
