Calling all textile lovers! Create a textile heirloom piece inspired by the mending and repair culture of traditional Japanese Boro. In this course, you'll learn to employ intricate hand embroidery techniques to our fabric collages using well-worn, pre-loved, and new fabrics. Come along and learn the design and development process of this traditional Japanese textile approach, which is currently making a big resurgence. This workshop is the perfect opportunity to up-cycle and repurpose.
If you love the qualities of handmade cloth and storytelling, this workshop is for you. Whether just starting with textiles or you feel like developing your artistic skill further, this one-day workshop is for you.

This class is designed for beginners. No prior experience is required.

Course materials
What to bring to class
- An assortment of small hand-picked fabric pieces/scraps. (Suggestion - various patterns, textures, shades of colour. Work with one colour scheme)
- An assortment of threads (embroidery, sewing cotton)
- Calico fabric ×1 metre
- Sewing pins
- Hand sewing needles (various sizes)
- Fabric scissors
- Quick unpick
- Optional – A pre-loved garment needs mending
