This course incorporates the practical aspects of landscape construction and installation (planning, layout, materials, budgets, structural & physical aspects) to progress the design plan into a practical reality with specific outcomes, like that special project that you have in mind.
Included are simple instructions for inexpensive landscaping and practical techniques for building garden beds and planter boxes, selecting and installing appropriate surface materials for walk, play and entertainment areas, and selecting plants that will work in those spaces to provide exciting visuals, and aesthetic and sensual experiences.
The course explores a diversity of landscape options with inexpensive build quality and construction versions that integrate the space with your lifestyle living at your place. This course is about re-inventing the gardens, decks, courtyards, balconies, walkways, safe play spaces, front areas and back yards, and refurbishing and renovating with a keen eye for value for money, and bang for your buck — perfect for inner-city small space gardens.
We can work the spaces and concepts with the areas, heights and volumes of your project, and help you to plan and design your target zones to hit your planned outcomes, which are practical, simple and useful every day for all the household. It is time to re-imagine that space and explore the potential of what it could look like.

Course content
What will be covered in this Garden Landscaping course?
Session 1
- Appraisal of different garden types for appropriateness of installation; inner city gardens / small & green space gardens, and looking at compatible plants in your neighbourhood.
- Evaluation of different types of gardens for spaces, concepts, heights, areas, volumes & budgets.
- Measuring and scaling; identifying utilities; investigating and estimating materials, time & costs; investigating the drainage; considering irrigation.
- Evaluate the construction of garden edging, planter box styles, raised bed styles, drainage plans, irrigation systems, kid-friendly designs, vertical gardens and green walls.
- Drafting a landscape action plan.
Session 2
- Bring to class the draft landscape action plan.
- Selection of plants/plant sizes, listing of materials, finalising budgets.
- Decision-making on appropriate garden types and content.
- Evaluation of inclusion of drainage and irrigation components where required.
- Discussion about different garden installations and landscaping: planning, layout, materials, budgets, structural & practical aspects.
- Final decision-making on installation techniques and construction.
- Discussion on the availability of tools, labour, materials and equipment, and matching concept plans to realistic outcomes.
- Finalising the landscape construction and installation plan.

Who is this Garden Landscaping course for?
This course is for people who want to know about what's involved in doing landscaping before starting a landscape project.
It's also for people with or without plant knowledge, with or without big enough garden spaces, or with or without design skills, or people with problem areas that need fixing up, and they don’t know where to start, or how to do it. It’s for people who want to landscape a garden space and find out how, and who want to bypass making rookie mistakes or throwing away good money on bad products. - A rough sketch/ drawn plan of garden spaces.

- Gardening gloves
- Wet weather gear / sun hat if required
