Achievements
Michiko Honda is trained in traditional Japanese calligraphy and has been awarded the rank of Shihan (Master). She’s conducted calligraphy workshops at The Japan Foundation in Sydney at the Art Gallery of NSW.
Teaching Style
Michiko’s teaching style is about improving her students' language skills by involving them in practical and enjoyable exercises designed to promote learning in a relaxed environment. Being a calligrapher, Michiko also gives her students hand-written copies of text to encourage them to write Japanese words.
Michiko has a good sense of humour and her classes are fun. She is particularly proud that her former students often stay in touch.
Something Unique
Aside from teaching, Michiko has worked in the entertainment industry where she’s performed for television, film and theatre.
Most notably, Michiko has had a prominent role performing alongside renowned Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe at the Sydney Opera House.
