Course description

Learn to speak Italian in Sydney with this Level 2 continuer’s class.

Whether you want to learn Italian language for business, travel or just for fun, you’ll take your skills to the next level with this informal, practical and interactive course in the Sydney CBD.

This Level 2 course will consolidate what you have learned and help you expand your vocabulary, grammar and understanding of the language. The course provides new situational topics to give you a wider vocabulary and plenty of speaking and listening practice.

This course is suitable for:
Students who have a basic understanding of Italian, or who have completed approximately 20 hours of previous learning (for example ‘Italian Level 1’).

Learning objectives

By the end of this Italian Level 2 Class, you will have learned how to:

  • talk about places and in more detail and give/receive more detailed directions
  • talk in more detail about holidays, the weather and the seasons
  • talk about everyday life including your work and family
  • talk about your hobbies, interests and other activities
  • discuss and compare typical grocery products and eating habits
  • go shopping, including for fashion and food
  • shop describe a place
  • talk about festivities in Italy
  • express seasonal wishes, congratulations, etc
  • create simple sentences having built on your understanding of basic grammar
  • speak more confidently with correct pronunciation and extended vocabulary.

The curriculum may be adapted slightly to suit the needs of the class. The topics above will be covered during this course, but not necessarily in the order given.

The textbook costs approximately $55. You may also choose to purchase the audio CD pack for use at home, but this is optional. Your tutor will have the CDs for use in class.

You can purchase the textbook from Abbeys Bookstore (131 York Street, Sydney). It is close to the CBD campus and offers a 10% discount to Sydney Community College students.
Please note: sometimes a course start date is postponed until there are enough enrolments. It is therefore wise to purchase your textbook after your course has been confirmed (usually within three working days of the proposed start).

Please bring your textbook, a notebook and pen to every class.
