Learn to make your own soy candles with our DIY short courses online & in Sydney.

Learn how to make your own candles from an experienced candle maker in this relaxing Sydney workshop! You’ll take home a sound understanding of candle making, learning how to make a soy candle and beeswax candle with fragrance oils that have been specifically designed for safe candle making.

Enjoy working as an artisan in Sydney and create a perfect gift for yourself or someone you love. If you love candles and enjoy using them for ambience and fragrance in your home, then this hands-on workshop is for you.

Please note that we currently offer two types of courses – classroom and live online via zoom platform. If you choose our live online option, a material kit with all necessary items will be delivered to your doorstep after enrolment.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this candle making course, you should have:

  • A basic understanding of candle making
  • Learnt how to use tools and equipment to create candles
  • Created some beautiful candles using colours and fragrances specifically for candle making.
  • A stack of your own hand-poured candles including 2x container candles, 1 × soy melts and 1x beeswax candle

Who is this candle making course for?

This class is designed for beginners. No prior experience is required.

Face-to-face classes

  • Glass jars for candles
  • Handouts to take home

NOTE: For a vegan option, the beeswax candle can be replaced with another soy candle.

Please bring to class

  • Pen and notepad
  • A bag to carry your creations
  • An apron (if possible) to protect your clothes
  • Prepare to get your hands a little dirty, and make sure you wear clothes and footwear that you don’t mind getting wax on

There will be additional Candle Making Kits for purchase on the day, should you want to continue making more creations at home.

If driving, there is no entry into Gordon Street from Victoria Road. Last block on your right before Victoria Road. Pedestrian access is opposite Prince Street.

Live online classes

Materials provided in the kit

The College will send a kit that includes:

  • 2 × Container Candles
  • 1 × Soy Melts
  • 1 × Beeswax Candle
  • Thermometer
  • Wax melting Jar
  • Measuring cup and mixing tools
  • Candle setup tools
  • Fragrances and colours

NOTE: For a vegan option, the beeswax candle can be replaced with another soy candle.

Students need to have access to

The students need to arrange the following items at home before the class:

  • Cooking pot (for boiling water and sit the pour jar inside)
  • Digital scale - 5000 grams capacity
  • Small knife
  • One piece of paper
  • Scissors
  • Apron
