Dr Roger K Morris AM is a long-time member of the Board of the College and its Chair from 2006 to 2012. Roger retired as Associate Professor in the Adult Education Programme at the University of Technology, Sydney [UTS] in 2005. Roger maintains his links to UTS as an Honorary Associate.
He served as a Member of the Board of Adult Learning Australia from 1987 until 2008, including as both the National President [1996 – 1999] and as the National Secretary [most of the balance of his term on the Board]. He was member of the Board of the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts [SMSA] from the early 1990s and was the SMSA’s President 2007 – 2011. On his retirement as President, Roger was admitted to Life Membership of the SMSA. He was also the Foundation President of the NSW Association of Mechanics' Institutes and Schools of Arts [AMISA – NSW] and remains a member of the Committee.
He was inducted into the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame at a ceremony held, in September 2006, at the University of Bamberg, Germany.
Among the other community positions Roger has held are:
- Board Member of Council on the Ageing (NSW) [2000 to 2015];
- Council Member of the Workers' Education Association – WEA Sydney;
- Member of the Board of Directors of the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame, which is based at the University of Oklahoma.
- He remains, since 2003, a Member of, and Secretary to, the Board of Governors, NSW Meals on Wheels.
