About Shan Shan Mok
Shan Shan was born in Hong Kong and raised in Sydney. She graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree majoring in Jewellery and Object Design from the University of Sydney, Sydney College of the Arts in 2006. In 2010, she pursued her Honours studies alongside developing a jewellery and object artist career.
In 2010, Shan Shan was awarded the Zelda Stedman Young Student Scholarship from The University of Sydney and she was also awarded first place in the Art-Environment/People category, University of Sydney Union Photography, Art, Literature and Music (PALM) Awards.
Shan Shan was awarded selected finalist in national international art and design awards every year since 2007 including: Sydney Region Winner -- Accessories Category-- RAWards 2013 Australia (RAWartists.org. Australia). 2nd Runner up – Ring - total weight 3 carat diamond and 18k gold ring, Buyers’ Favourite Jewellery Design Competition 2009 (HKJMA, Hong Kong). Finalist in EnlightenedTM - Swarovski Elements Passion Topaz Jewellery Design Competition 2008/9. Finalist in BKV- Prize 2007,(Bayerischer Kunstgewerbe-Verein e. V, Munich, Germany).
Her work is showcasing and selling in 13 galleries in Australia (NSW, VIC and WA). She keeps extending her business/career by binging her innovative design-artwork to the public.
Shan Shan loves art and innovative design, so she is always interested in creating some unique pieces and experiment different element in her work, nearly daily.
She feels great joy when customer or students get excited when they see the endless possibilities of metal work. Shan Shan's focus is to make substantial work, especially when teaching jewellery design and making. It is important to her to teach her students to make their work substantially, because she believes that when a person likes a jewellery piece, they always want it to stay with them for their life time.
Jewellery is a form of art that an object closely relates to human body, when you like a jewellery piece and always wear it with you, this piece of jewellery is engaged to your life and memory.
Jewellery is a field that Shan Shan is addicted to.
