Discover the fun of wheel-throwing pottery these school holidays for kids in Sydney.
Join us for a fun and creative school holiday wheel-throwing pottery class designed especially for kids, with the option for parents to join in too. In this two-hour workshop, students will be introduced to the pottery wheel with a demonstration before receiving step-by-step guidance to make their own creations. Participants will have the chance to create pieces such as cups, bowls, planters, or candle holders while enjoying the experience of working with clay.
This class is suitable for children aged 10 and above. Kids can attend on their own, or parents are welcome to take part alongside their child.
At the end of the session, each participant will select their best piece and choose a glaze colour. Our team will trim, glaze, and fire the pieces, ready for collection from our studio 2–3 weeks after the class.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this workshop, students should be able to:
- Understand the basics of throwing clay on a pottery wheel.
- Create their own functional pottery forms.
- Gain an appreciation of the pottery process from forming to finishing.
- Take home a unique finished piece made during the class.
Course content
This wheel-throwing course covers the following:
- How to prepare and centre clay on the wheel.
- Techniques for shaping simple forms such as cups, bowls, planters, and candle holders.
- The steps involved in finishing and glazing pottery pieces.
Intended audience
Who is this wheel-throwing course for?
This workshop is designed for children aged 10+ looking for a creative and engaging holiday activity. Parents are also welcome to enrol and join the class with their child.

Please note: Parking is not permitted on Prentice Lane. Free all-day parking is available on surrounding streets near the studio.

- An apron or a towel
Additional information
Please note the following:
- Please don’t wear your best clothing! Clay will wash out, but it’s better to wear some older clothes
- If you have long hair, please tie it back
- Wear closed-in shoes
- Nails need to be trimmed
- Your pottery will be available for collection 2–3 weeks after the class.
