Experience
Kirsty Fromholtz began dancing when she was just five years old. She grew up in country NSW where she studied ballet, jazz, Highland (Scottish) and Irish dance. When she moved to Canberra to study psychology, Kirsty discovered contemporary and hip-hop. Following her graduation from university, she gave dance movement therapy a whirl in Melbourne.
She fell in love with creative dance and improvisation and has continued that learning journey since relocating to Sydney six years ago, taking time off to study dance performance “full timeâ€. Bringing years of teaching experience to her role at the College, Kirsty has designed and implemented a number of dance-based projects for a variety of groups.
Achievements
Kirsty directs a dance program for people with disabilities called Accessible Dance. She has also set up a program for deaf and blind dancers. For Kirsty, this project is her therapy and has given her the opportunity to facilitate dance experiences for 300 people at a time!
Teaching Style
Kirsty is driven by her desire to make dance accessible for everyone. That means her classes are inclusive, creative and free from judgement.
Something Unique
Dance consumes most of her life, but she still has room for music. Kirsty plays guitar and piano, and enjoys fishing and cooking amazing food.
