As a professional photographer, Mayu Kanamori’s experience include editorial work with high-quality publications such as The Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Financial Review, Good Weekend, Gourmet Traveller and Kyodo News. She’s equally sought-after in the corporate world, with clients that include Macquarie Bank, Westpac Banking Corporation, NRMA, Art Gallery of NSW and NSW Department of Education and Training.
As workshop facilitator, guest lecturer and educator, Mayu has worked with students from the University of NSW, Macquarie University, Information Cultural Exchange (ICE), St Mary’s College, Broome, Tagai State College, Thursday Island, and Canowindra High School.
Achievements
With solo photographic exhibitions that include Unseen Faces of Japan, Sugao no Australia, and Island of the Ancients, Mayu’s major performance works include The Heart of the Journey, CHIKA: A Documentary Performance and In Repose.
Mayu’s work is highly acclaimed and has received many awards, including the NAIDOC Non-Indigenous Reconciliation Award, Conrad Jupiter Art Prize, Olive Cotton Award for Photographic Portraiture, and the Julie Milowick Photography Prize.
