Rob Menegon
Rob’s formal training is in education, and he holds a Bachelor of Education degree and Graduate Diploma in Applied Computing. These skills translate to his work as a tutor for The Bower as he loves teaching, training, and setting the stage for people to grow and explore.
Rob became interested in woodworking through observing his uncle who was a cabinet maker. His earliest memory of woodworking was when he made a scale model at 6 years old.
Rob explains how he learned his skills early on: “I spent a lot of time walking through building sites. You could do that back then. My wife's uncle was a carpenter by trade and lent me his tech school books from his apprenticeship. From those, I was able to put names to the constructions that I was observing. Plates, studs, lintels, and so on. When it was time to renovate our first house all these things came together.”
Since Rob’s first renovation, he has now completed dozens of projects on kitchens, bathrooms, and decks. In 2016 he did a 3-week intensive at a guitar-making school in Townsville, an experience he recommends for everyone.
