Course description

During this workshop we will take a short look at some of the best travel photographers in the business, past and present to provide some inspiration. Along the way we will gain greater understanding of what gear to pack for travel photography. We will discuss three budget levels, compare camera and lenses, make and models etc.

We will discuss in more detail, what gear is needed for specialist photography interests while travelling (i.e. bird photography, on safari, portraiture, landscape, etc).

We will also gain an understanding on how to approach people to take a portrait, for example, including a brief discussion on model releases and how they work.

Other matters such as whether to take a laptop/iPad etc – information on file backup options while on the road (notebooks, iPad/eDevices, portable drives, the Cloud). There will also be a discussion of file editing options while travelling

Finally, we will discover how to use your shots once back home – prints, framing, photo books, calendars, greeting cards, etc. and how to make money with your travel shots – getting published and submitting for stock.
