Course description

Learn how to play tennis for intermediate in Sydney.

Ideal for

This Tennis Coaching Class is for adults who have previously had coaching and/or play tennis regularly and want to improve their game. Classes will focus on improving your technique and we will develop your movement and ball placement on shots.

Course content

Week 1: You will work on accuracy, efficiency with your movement and rallying

Week 2: You will be working on serving, cross court rallying and point play

Week 3: You will be working on volleys and smashes. Net workouts will be incorporated into some fun and challenging games

Week 4: Serving and point play is the focus this week. Some tactical advice and game plans will be set in motion

Week 5: This week will focus on lobs and passing shots. The second half of the lesson will allow for singles and doubles points

As well as improving your skill, our tennis courses are designed to be fun and keep you healthy. A sensible step before you start is to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire – PAR-Q. PAR-Q is a self-screening tool that should be used by anyone planning to increase their physical activity.

Sydney Community College Tennis adult coaching program terms and conditions:
  • Tennis classes are limited to 6 participants for beginners and cardio and 5 participants for Intermediate to Advanced. As there are limited spaces available in the tennis programs, payment is required to secure a place in the program
  • Please choose your course carefully as a course refund will be given only when we have received at least five working days notice before the commencement of the first session of the course. A $25 administration fee will be charged for processing a refund. If you provide less than five working days notice, no refund will be available
  • Enrolments in tennis programs are not transferable to another person
  • It is the player’s responsibility to attend the tennis program sessions. If a session is missed it cannot be made up at another date or time
  • Once payment has been made, changes to a player’s work commitments or personal circumstances will not be considered as grounds for a refund
  • A transfer to another tennis program is possible provided there are spaces available
  • As with all outdoor activity, our programmes are subject to the weather. Only SCT can determine if a class will not proceed due to the weather conditions. If a session is cancelled due to unplayable weather, SCT will advise you of the time and date of the make up session. It is your obligation to attend the re-scheduled make up session. In the event of an inability to attend, SCT offers a range of other options. Credits and refunds will only be considered in the most extreme of circumstances. If a session is cancelled due to rain the session cannot be credited or deducted from fees and it is your obligation to attend the re-scheduled make-up session. If we are unable to schedule a make-up session, we will credit you with one hour of casual court hire per session.

Our Sport courses are designed to be fun and keep you healthy. A sensible step before you start is to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire PAR-Q.
PAR-Q is a self-screening tool that should be used by anyone planning to increase their physical activity. PAR-Q is designed to help you help yourself. It is a sensible first step if you are planning to increase your physical activity by enrolling in this course.

  • Each class has been limited to 5 players only to allow for more personalised coaching.

Please Note: Sydney Community College engages coaches through the highly professional service providers, such as Next Generation Sports and Camperdown Tennis. Every effort is made to ensure the advertised coach is available for all lessons throughout the programme in which you enrol, however, illness, accident and misadventure do occur and we ask for your patience and cooperation at times when a stand-in coach is required.

Avoid disappointment. Enrol early.
