Course description

Learn body moulding and casting at this sculpture workshop in Sydney

Experience the fascinating sculptural detail and textures of the human form. In this one-day sculpture workshop you will learn how to cast small sections of the human body. This workshop is an introduction to skills used often in special effects for film, theatre and photography.

Join this class to learn how to take a mould of a body part in plaster bandage and then cast it in Plaster of Paris. The creamy plaster gets warm as it cures and must cool before de-moulding. Moulds are then prepared with release agents for casting. Recreate your own feet or work with another participant to create hands, arms or sections of the torso. We will then work to refine and finish the body sculpture with different colours and sealants. Finished works can then be used in artworks, window displays or in the garden as sculptural elements.
