Course description

Potter and Ceramic Wheel Throwing classes in Sydney.

In this Wheel Throwing for Beginners course you will be introduced to throwing, trimming and glazing techniques.

You will be taken through the different steps of wheel throwing methods such as centering, opening and pulling and shaping your pottery. Learn how to plan and execute trimming excess clay from the bottom of your pottery. Practice your body and hand coordiations and find out how to glaze and decorate your pottery design.

Come with a readiness to learn and to get your hands dirty, and you will go home with a beautiful piece designed and made by yourself.

This course is designed for absolute beginners or people with minimal working knowledge of ceramics.

Other information
  • Please don’t wear your best clothing! Clay will wash out, but it’s better to wear some older clothes
  • If you have long hair, please tie it back
  • Wear closed-in shoes
  • Nails need to be trimmed
  • You will need to return a week after the last class to collect your pieces. You will be able to discuss this with your teacher.
