Course description

Pottery and Ceramic Hand Building classes in Sydney.

Be introduced to the world of hand building ceramics and learn how to make from scratch to finish several pieces of ceramics to take home.

You will explore building objects like boxes and cylinders from slabs of clay as well as making coil pots.

In the first class you will see a demonstration of two different hand building techniques. After the demonstrations you will make your own two pieces using the techniques you have learned.

In the second class you will learn about surface decoration techniques and glazing. Decorate and glaze you previously made ceramics and you will be able to pick them up in two weeks after the end of the course.

  • Please don’t wear your best clothing! Clay will wash out, but it’s better to wear some older clothes
  • If you have long hair, please tie it back
  • Wear closed-in shoes
  • Nails need to be trimmed
  • You will need to return a week after the last class to collect your pieces. You will be able to discuss this with your teacher.
