Course description

Learn photo editing in Sydney with this beginners course.

Learn to edit your digital photos using Adobe Lightroom Classic. Your photos don’t always match the scene the way you remember it. But with Lightroom, you have all the tools you need to bring out the best in your photography. Punch up colors, make dull-looking shots vibrant, remove distracting objects and straighten skewed shots. Plus, the latest release includes powerful new ways to create incredible HDR images and panoramas, import and edit faster thanks to performance boosts, and so much more.

Lightroom is a clever and efficient way to enhance and manage your photos all in one place. From the makers of Photoshop, Lightroom lets you edit and improve your images, manages and then stores them. All your images in one place, at your fingertips and easy to find.

This course has been designed for photographers of all levels who use digital cameras to capture and store images. Course participants can start this course with an entry level of experience in Adobe Lightroom, from absolute beginner to occasional user.

No prior knowledge of Lightroom is assumed, and the course will start from the ground up and cover all the editing basics, and then guide you through all of the photographer workflow of image processing for enhanced quality and image management.

The primary focus is on Lightroom’s Library and Develop modules: the global and local adjustment tools, the Lightroom histogram, special effects conversions, corrections and recovery processes that are the essential tools for the modern photographer.

The course will provide you with the essential skills to create and manage the secure organisation and storage of your digital photographs. You will learn how to avoid the great disaster that occurs when computers or data storage devices crash and precious images are lost.

Lightroom has become the tool of choice for the world’s photographers, and the course begins with a thorough investigation of the Lightroom workspace, and from the initial download of images from the camera to the computer, to incorporating non-destructive processes and enhancing the end image quality. Participation in this class allows you to achieve competence in the control of the quality output of your images.

Important information
  • As students will be working with their own personal images, students are required to bring along their own images on a laptop, to each session (so you can easily take your images home to edit without transferring on/off computers). You will be working on your own laptop in class. There will NOT be other computers available.
  • The student will need to be competent in computer operations. If it is a recently purchased computer, then perhaps a class in computer operations is appropriate, prior to undertaking the Photo Editing course

Course testimonials:

  • Koula said: Richard being very helpful and made it easy for us to learn light room, walking away feeling confident I can now use light room.. Thank you Richard, I have already recommend you to a few friends.

  • Gail said: I felt I gained a much better understanding of lightroom. Richard is a patient teacher with a warm, friendly style. I did find that we covered off a lot of info and there was no time to actually practice during the allocated time I would also suggest that, given notes were not handed out, it would be a good idea for the tutor to share all of their presentation notes with the students digitally at the end of the course.

  • Susan said: The course was a great introduction to Lightroom and its power to manage and transform photos and has given me the drive to further understand and master Lightroom's many features while they are fresh in my mind. The tutorials Richard provided are a great reference tool that will help reinforce what we learnt over the course. Thanks for a great class!
