Course description

Learn how to make tempeh at this workshop in Sydney.

Tempeh is a low-fat, high-protein food that will hold its own way beyond your first “meatless Monday”. It’s totally versatile: you can marinade it for the BBQ, throw it into a stir-fry, stuff it in a sandwich and so much more.

Join this workshop to learn from tempeh makers Andie & Dave of Organic Village Tempeh (this is their job, people!) how to make your own black bean & forbidden rice tempeh, using only plant-based ingredients and no soy.

This class is perfect for beginners who want to learn how to cook delicious vegan dishes, as well as home cooks wanting to expand their repertoire.

On the menu…
  • Black Bean & Forbidden Rice Tempeh (from scratch using the traditional Indonesian method and the modern method)
  • Chipotle Tempeh Tacos with gluten free corn tortillas and all the trimmings!

Plus - take home 3 packets of your own tempeh.

Course content
  • History of tempeh and its Indonesian origins
  • The different kinds of tempeh and their uses
  • Nutritional value of tempeh
  • Step-by-step discussion of the dishes to be made
  • Demonstration and hands-on cooking (in small groups) to follow recipes
