Course description

Learn to speak Arabic in Sydney with this Level 3 continuer’s class.

Whether you want to learn Arabic language for business, travel or just for fun, you’ll take your skills to the next level with this informal, practical and interactive course in the Sydney CBD.

This Level 3 course will consolidate what you have learned and help you further expand your vocabulary, grammar and understanding of both spoken and written Arabic. The course provides new situational topics to give you a wider vocabulary and plenty of speaking and listening practice.

This course is suitable for:

Students who have completed approximately 40 hours of previous learning in Arabic, for example ‘Arabic Level 1’ and ‘Level 2’.

Learning objectives

By the end of this course you will have learned:

  • the different types of sentences in Arabic (nominal & verbal sentences)
  • past, present and future tense in verbal sentences and how to use this when describing things
  • how to comprehend and accurately use the basic sentence structures of Arabic
  • a general understanding of aspects of Arab culture connected to daily activities
  • how to order food and drinks in a restaurant in Arabic
  • how to write and read more complex sentences in Arabic.

The curriculum may be adapted slightly to suit the needs of the class. The topics above will be covered during this course, but not necessarily in the order given.

The textbook costs approximately $136 and includes a DVD with audio/video material, as well as access to the companion website.

Please note: sometimes a course start date is postponed until there are enough enrolments. It is therefore wise to purchase your textbook after your course has been confirmed (usually within three working days of the proposed start).
