Beautiful presentation is half of the gift. If you’re done with dull wrapping, learn the Japanese art of creative covering for a truly professional finish to your gifts. It’s unique and classy but also sustainable, with reusable fabric.

Join this course to learn wrapping with fabric (Furoshiki) plus paper wrapping techniques and origami 3D features to top off your gifts.

You’ll receive step-by step instructions to create unique gifts for your family and friends. We will have lots of fun and get your creativity flowing!

Course content
  • Furoshiki wrapping

Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth. We will use it to wrap gifts such as wine bottles, boxes, books and more. There are many ways to wrap around different size and shape items, using beautiful eco-friendly fabrics, - no sticky tape required!

  • Creative paper wrapping

Learn to fold paper in creative and fancy ways. Using gift wrapping paper and professional folding techniques we will create gorgeously wrapped gifts.

  • Origami

Origami is a traditional Japanese art of folding paper. You will learn to fold colorful origami paper to create 3D designs such as gift boxes. Plus – Origami helps to develop hand-eye coordination, mental focus, fine motor skills, memory and creative imagination.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course you will have:

  • learned how to wrap with Furoshiki (for instance a wine bottle and books)
  • knowledge about Furoshiki (traditonal japanese wrapping cloth)
  • learned how to wrap with gift-wrapping paper (for instance a box and t-shirt)
  • learned to create origami art
  • experienced Japanese traditional art
  • exercised your hand-eye coordination, mental focus and creativity

  • All fabric and paper materials are provided

Please bring to class
  • Scissors
  • Dubble sided tape
  • Sticky tape
  • Ruler
  • an empty wine bottle, an empty box (about A4 size or smaller), a book and a t-shirt (These items are to be wrapped with furoshiki and wrapping paper)
