Course description

Learn how to build your own planter box in Sydney.

Planter box – perfect for growing your own plants, herbs, fruit & vegetables or flowers in your garden or balcony. This is a weekend DIY basic carpentry workshop where you gain knowledge and skills to construct a simple planter box from reclaimed timbers.

Class sizes are kept small to ensure maximal learning experience.

Ideal for…

This course is designed for those with no knowledge or experience with woodwork.

Course content
  • Knowledge of general safety in the workshop
  • Understanding of second hand timber
  • Knowledge of good woodworking for gardens and the outdoors
  • Understanding of how to work accurately to a plan
  • Skill with saws, hammer, and drills
Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the student will have:

  • learned how to use woodworking tools safely;
  • learned to read a basic plan drawing;
  • learned the carpentry terminology;
  • made a planter box.

All tools and materials are provided, however students are welcome to bring their own tools – old and new – and learn how to use and maintain them.
