Course description

Cooking classes Sydney - learn cake decorating essentials techniques to make a Christmas Yule log.

Learn how to create edible mini works of art at this sweet evening workshop in Sydney.

It’s “no experience necessary” for this hands-on class, as we unlock some of the secrets behind sculpting marzipan or fondant, applying ganache and presentation to create a colourfully festive yule log (or buche de noel).

Learn simple, easy to do at home techniques. Along with a few laughs (and a cuppa or two), you’ll get loads of creative tips and skills for achieving a professional finish using low cost tools and equipment found in most kitchens… (no need to break the bank buying all that fancy gear).

Please note: we are not able to provide substitute ingredients for people with allergies.

Course content
  • introduction to ganache and fondant icing
  • cut and frost a store-bought Swiss roll to log shape/texture
  • create sculpted fondant leaves and toadstools
  • sculpt and paint marzipan cake toppers
  • bake your own and assemble meringue mushrooms
  • finishing and present your Yule Log to take home.

Beginners and more experienced cooks who want to learn basic cake decorating skills.

Materials provided

All ingredients, tools and take home cake box supplied.

Please come prepared

  • Wear closed in shoes
  • If you have long hair, tie it back
