Course description

Learn Bookbinding for Beginners in Sydney.

Learn how to make beautiful handmade books for either your own personal use as a journal, sketch-book or notebook; or give them as a much appreciated gift to a loved one. A perfect and unique present at any time of the year.

We have a series of unique Bookbinding Workshops available for you. This workshop focuses on the Lined Leather Wrap Journal.

Come and learn how to make an A5 Journal sewn with linen thread onto a piece of vegetable dyed Kangaroo leather, which we will line with beautiful decorative paper. The booklets are made with 100gsm cream art paper inserts, finished with a decorative tie.

Course content
  • Learn a variety of stitching techniques
  • Work with leather made out of vegetable dyed Kangaroo skin
  • Find out how to insert art paper
Learning outcomes

At the end of this workshop you will be able to

  • fold and collate papers
  • sew a decorative stitch onto leather
  • cover leather with decorative paper
  • finish with a decorative tie
  • go home with one book made by yourself
