Course description

Storytelling and Puppetry Class for people with an NDIS package in Sydney

In this session, members will explore various forms of puppetry, including puppet making, manipulation and storytelling.

Working towards a performance outcome, members will be introduced to puppetry while developing a performance piece.
The group will explore different types of puppetry , such as tabletop puppetry, shadow puppetry, and object manipulation. As well as creating characters, making puppets and devising a series of short scenes. This session will allow member to use their imagination as the main drive developing performance skills and teamwork.

Course content
  • Research different types of puppetry
  • Discuss and learn about the artistic and technical aspects of puppetry and storytelling.
  • Creating and making a variety of puppets
  • Exploring techniques to “bring puppets to life”
  • To meet others and socialise in a supportive environment.
Outcomes

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Use puppets as an imaginative and storytelling tool
  • Increase skills in concentration
  • Understand artistic and technical aspects of puppetmaking
