Course description

Organic Gardening class for people with an NDIS package in Sydney

Come and join us at Whites Creek Community Garden. Learn about organic gardening techniques for growing your own food. Practice seasonal garden care, composting, planting, pest management and soil testing. In the off weeks and quiet times we will do art and creative activities inspired by our beautiful Whites Creek Reserve surrounds. Natural landscapes and environments have inspired artists and creative for centuries, watch your creativity grow!

Participants will be guided in their art making by a professional artist to create paintings, drawings and mixed media artworks. Members are given the choice of working in groups on special projects that are planned each term or they can choose to work individually on their own area of interest.

Course content

Throughout the course, students will participate in a range of hands-on activities. Topics covered include:

  • Composting
  • Worm Farming
  • General Plant Care
  • Planting seedlings
  • Pest management
  • Soil testing
  • Participate in a creative experience
Course Outcomes

By enrolling in the Access2EdClass Courses the students will have the opportunity:

  • To develop and practice social skills in a supportive environment
  • To observe elements of the garden and engage in gardening activities
  • To learn and practice gardening skills such as composting, maintaining a worm farm, propagation, watering.
Other information

On the day participants must

  • Wear old comfortable shoes and clothing
  • Wear a hat, sunsreeen
  • Long hair must be tied back
  • Bring your own water, snacks and lunch
