Course description

Cooking class for people with an NDIS package in Sydney

Improve your cooking skills and learn in a fun, social environment. In Creative Cooking, participants will learn how to select and recognise ingredients and follow recipes and effective cooking methods. Individual skill levels are catered for, with feedback and personalised support. At the end of each class, the group has the chance to sample their cooking creations.

Participants will work with an experienced facilitator and get hands-on practical experience in how to prepare simple, fresh and healthy meals – meals that can be re-created at home and shared with your family.

Course content:
  • Cook a new meal each week with the class
  • Discussion of how to find and follow a recipe
  • Discussion and resources about healthy eating and lifestyle
Program outcomes:
  • Confidence in food preparation and presentation and independence in the kitchen;
  • Effective teamwork skills;
  • Economical use of food and food safety;
  • Safe knife handling and cutting techniques;
  • Group interaction and socialising in a supportive environment

There will be food to eat during the cooking classes. To the best of our abilities we will adapt recipes to suit allergies or food intolerances, however, participants should know that, in the case of severe allergy, an alternative may not be available.

On the day all participants must...

  • Wear closed-in shoes.
  • Have hair tied back
  • Wear comfortable and practical clothing suitable for food preparation and cooking
