Course description

Disability course 12 weeks Cooking class
Cooking class for people with a disability in Sydney.

Do you want to improve your cooking skills and art skills? This 12-week course will cover the basic of cooking and exploring your inner artist.
Learning how to prepare and cook simple meals in a domestic kitchen. Students will work with a chef in the kitchen and get hands-on practical lessons in how to prepare a simple, fresh and healthy meal for the class.
Week 12 Having compleated the course you can invite Family or friends to have a sit-down meal cooked by you.

Course content cooking
  • Introduction to some of the methods cooking
  • Step-by-step discussion of the recipes for the workshop
  • Demonstration and hands-on cooking (in small groups) to follow recipes
  • learning how to prepare and cook simple meals

*Take home weekly recipes and cook for family and friends

By the end of this course, students will have learned:
  • safe knife handling and cutting techniques
  • basic kitchen organisation and timing
  • To participate in a range of recipe each week
  • To meet others and socialise in a supportive environment

There will be food to eat during the cooking classes.
We are not able to provide substitute ingredients for people with allergies or food intolerances.

On the day...
  • All participants must wear closed-in shoes.
  • Hair tied back
  • Please wear comfortable and practical clothing for cooking

Fee free to students meeting the eligibility guidelines under the arrangements with NSW Department of Family and Community Services.
