The workshop includes a series of structured in-class activities with positive feedback in a supportive environment as students learn the fundamentals of romance writing in this practical, interactive course.

  • an understanding of different genres and categories of romance fiction, the market, and the industry of romance publishing
  • learned how to create heroines readers want to cheer for, and heroes readers... want
  • an understanding of the development of a relationship on the page, and how it connects with the story
  • learned how to develop plot and structure best suited for your works that will hook the reader
  • an understanding of how to package your completed manuscript for submission to an editor or agent, or publish directly to the market

  • We will look at the elements that define the romance genre, as well as the different categories of romance stories, and the nuances of the audience, market and industry.
  • We will examine the core fundamentals of creating characters with well-motivated objectives that create compelling conflict.
  • We will learn how to develop a plot and draft a story outline that will have deliver that swoon-worthy read.
  • We will develop an understanding of how to approach editors, agents, and readers as a professional writer.
