Have you ever wanted to participate in a Triathlon but don’t know how to train for it? Receive expert advice on every discipline, including completion of a section of the course you will be racing on, by an experienced and motivating coach. Even if you can’t swim, ride a bike or run properly, you will learn every step of the way.

If you want to learn how to train for a Triathlon in Sydney, then this course is for you.

This course is catered and structured to suit all abilities. Learn how to swim properly, ride a bike and run better. And come race day, be able to put all 3 legs together and complete a triathlon. By the end of 8 weeks, you will be able to complete an enticer triathlon.

There are two sessions per week on Wednesday afternoon and Saturday mornings. You need to be able to swim at least 200m with stops, ride a bike and walk/jog for 30 mins to enrol in this course. Wednesday will be a swim session and Saturday’s bike/run sessions. You will complete a section of the course on 2 Saturdays to familiarise yourself with the course.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

Week One – Wednesday:

  • Fitness assessment/swim assessment
  • Individual goal set up

Week One – Saturday:

  • Bike assessment/run assessment
  • Shoe assessment

Weeks One – Four:

  • Technique and skills/fitness
  • Depending on individuals current fitness and ability, gradually increase swimming/bike/running pace

Weeks Five – Eight:

  • Strength/speed

Week Five â€" Wednesday:

  • Test to determine how you are progressing

Week Five Saturday:

  • Complete a small mini triathlon Dolls point 100m/4km/1km

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course, students will:

  • Have a greater understanding on what is needed to finish a triathlon
  • Have a greater understanding on what is needed to perform well in a triathlon
  • Have increased their fitness and skills
  • Have learned proper techniques and about proper footwear and clothing to wear
  • Have learned to stretch all relevant muscles
  • Be aware of all safety measures, overtraining, proper nutrition, hydration and sleep
  • Have confidence to train and enter longer triathlons
  • Have become familiar with the Enticer Triathlon course

Other Information

Participants must be 18 years or over.

Recommended equipment to bring to each session:

  • Shorts/tights
  • Singlet/T-Shirt
  • Goggles
  • Flippers
  • Kickboard
  • Bike/Mountain Bike
  • Helmet
  • Towel
  • Water Bottle
  • Sports shoes in good conditions and not more than 12 months old. You can purchase shoes at Running Science or The Running Company at Bondi and mention program or Dani Andres for a discount.
  • Warm clothing to wear post training
  • Food to eat post training
  • A great attitude and willingness to learn

The swimming component of this course will be held at Wentworth Point, Homebush, located at 9 The Crescent, Homebush Bay

The bike riding and running component of this course will be held at Centennial Park. Please meet in front of the Centennial Park Cafe/in front of the fountain.

The agenda for many courses involving physical activity starts with an OH&S briefing and/or a warm up and to miss either may create a hazard to you, which might exclude you from participation for the session.
