Course description

Learn natural dye, machine stitching, hand stitching and patching in Sydney with this sewing Workshop.

This workshop is an opportunity to connect with yourself, and to enjoy the company of others, who share a love natural dye and stitching.

Each lesson we will be able to slow down, work in stillness and celebrate the act of making. The final outcome may vary depending upon your intention.

You may wish to create a length of fabric, cushion cover, a series of small talismans, a sampler or other cloth panel.

Each student will have access to lots of naturally dyed linen, cotton, silk and wool to play with. Also a piece of organic cotton to hand stitch their own Zero Waste T-shirt.

There will be some botanicals to play with if you choose to dye the T-shirt. It will be fun to stitch together. No experience, problem!

This is a special one-off workshop for Fashion Revolution Week.

FASHION REVOLUTION WEEK
22nd – 28th April 2019

Fashion Revolution is an international campaign for a more transparent and ethical fashion industry. Fashion Revolution Week is our #whomademyclothes campaign in April, which falls on the anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse, which killed 1138 people and injured many more on 24th April 2013. That is the day Fashion Revolution was born. During this week, brands and producers are encouraged to respond with the hashtag #imadeyourclothes and to demonstrate transparency in their supply chain.
