Learning from the Lockdown - Insights for Positive Change

A FREE community event webinar

In this one hour session we will look at the confronting experience of the COVID-19 lockdown, which has forced us to connect with self, home and our surroundings. For some this has been enriching: for others, extremely difficult. But most agree it has taught us about our values, and provided an opportunity for change.

Join environmental educator Victoria Walker for this interactive webinar on how we can learn from recent experiences – a major lockdown on the heels of our summer of fire – to enact the changes we want to see.

We will learn about the three ‘meta-narratives’, or larger stories, that we see before us: business as usual, disaster, or the great transition. These definitions from Joanna Macy, show us the choice for our own perspective on the global pandemic.

Using a powerful contemporary poem by Kate Tempest, the talk will also look in to the concept of inner stability and solidness, within a shifting landscape. What do we tie ourselves to when everything is changing?

Finally, we explore how having our freedom taken away has shown us what it looked like in the first place.
