Course description

Learn to speak Indonesian in Sydney with this Level 5 class.

Whether you want to learn Indonesian language for work, travel or just for fun, you’ll take your skills to the next level with this informal, practical and interactive course in the Sydney CBD.

This Level 5 course will consolidate what you have learned and help you further expand your vocabulary and understanding of Bahasa Indonesia, including developing a deeper knowledge of practical grammar using the Grammar book listed. The course provides new situational topics to give you a wider vocabulary and plenty of speaking and listening practice as well as introducing some native language materials such as song lyrics, and short videos.

Ideal for

Students who have completed approximately 60-80 hours of previous learning in Indonesian. For example, this would suit those who have completed SCC’s Indonesian Level 3, 4 or Conversation class, or who have done some prior Indonesian studies at school or in-country and want to revise and build on that.
We will be continuing to work through Keren Indonesian Course Book 2.

If you are not sure whether this is the right level for you, please contact SCC who will put you in touch with the teacher who can let you know where we will start the term in terms of the Course Book and Grammar Book.

Outcomes

By the end of this Indonesian Level 5 Class you will have learned how to:

  • use more advanced conversational skills in everyday situations at work and home
  • have a greater familiarity with and confidence using more complex grammar constructions such as ke-an verbs, and ber- verbs
  • have greater skills for dealing with food and restaurants
  • be able to discuss the body, health and illness
  • have greater skills for dealing with doctors and hospitals
  • be able to express your opinions
  • read and understand longer texts

The curriculum will be adjusted as required to suit the needs of the class and the speed through which we work through the text. The topics above will be covered during this course, but not necessarily in the order given.
