Course description

Learn to speak Korean in Sydney with this Level 3 continuer’s class.

Whether you want to learn Korean language for business, travel or just for fun, you’ll take your skills even further with this informal, practical and interactive course in the Sydney CBD.

This Level 3 course will help you go beyond the basics to build your vocabulary and fluency for a more rewarding level of conversation. You will consolidate your understanding of the language and culture, extend your understanding of the written script and have opportunities to further practise and develop your skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing in Korean.

This course is suitable for:
Students who have completed approximately 40 hours of previous learning, for example ‘Korean Level 1’ and ‘Korean Level 2’ or equivalent.

Learning objectives

By the end of this Korean Level 3 Class, you will have learned how to:

  • talk about going places and planning trips
  • write simple correspondence letters and emails
  • talk about shopping and eating out
  • talk about your health
  • talk about sport and other interests
  • speak more confidently with correct pronunciation and extended vocabulary
  • understand and familiarize Korean culture and people using formal patterns
  • increase your knowledge of various idioms, expressions and vocabularies
  • develop reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills and build on grammar skills.

The curriculum may be adapted slightly to suit the needs of the class. The topics above will be covered during this course, but not necessarily in the order given.

The textbook costs approximately $60, including a grammar book and audio CD.

You can purchase the textbook from Abbeys Bookstore (131 York Street, Sydney). It is close to the CBD campus and offers a 10% discount to Sydney Community College students.

Please note: sometimes a course start date is postponed until there are enough enrolments. It is therefore wise to purchase your textbook after your course has been confirmed (usually within three working days of the proposed start).

What to bring to class

Please bring your textbook, a notebook and pen to every class.
