Dumplings are a perennial favourite featured in many world cuisines, with each culture having its own unique style and flavours. A healthy comfort food, they can be made quickly using the simplest plant-based ingredients - and adapted to suit whatever seasonal stuffings you have to hand.

Join the workshop to explore different cultural takes on the humble dumpling flavours, shapes and cooking styles - to take home and try with family and friends. Stuffed with your favourite sweet or savoury vegetarian fillings, it's impossible to stop at just a few of these salty and moreish parcels whether they are steamed, boiled, baked, pan-fried or deep-fried.

What will be covered in this dumpling course?

Online class

  • Prepare home-made dumpling wrappers
  • Fold dumplings to make tofu and vegetable boiled dumplings
  • Dipping sauce

In-person class

Using both pre-made and freshly rolled wrappers, we will explore a range of international vegetarian dumplings, including:

  • Pan-fried vegetable Gyoza, with sesame dipping sauce
  • Steamed seasonal vegetable Tibetan Momos
  • Indian Kofta potato dumplings with spicy tomato sauce

Please note: This how to make dumplings course is suitable for people who are vegan and/or vegetarian. We are not able to provide substitute ingredients for people with allergies.

If driving, there is no entry into Gordon Street from Victoria Road. Last block on your right before Victoria Road. Pedestrian access is opposite Prince Street.

What to bring to class

  • Bring an apron
  • Bring food containers for leftovers
  • Wear closed in shoes
  • If you have long hair, tie it back

Materials provided:

All ingredients are provided, but please bring your own reusable food containers to take any leftovers home.

Accessibility: Please note there is no level access to the room for this class. Access is via approx. 20 steps.
