Learn how to build your strength and balance with our fitness courses in Sydney!
This strength & balance course is specifically designed for people who have limited or no experience in a gym. Using simple movements, we show you how to use your own body weight and basic equipment to increase your strength, tone muscle and improve your balance. Small groups ensure you receive individual attention and learn the correct technique.
The benefits of strength training include:
- Increased strength and fitness (reduced likelihood of injury);
- Improved bone health (reduced likelihood of osteoporosis);
- Maintenance of or increase of muscle mass;
- Improved mood and mental health.
This practical course provides an introduction to strength and balance training, as well as learning some simple exercises to improve your cardiovascular fitness, and stretches to improve your flexibility.
Course content
What will be covered in this course?
- Week 1: Legs (squat, lunge, hamstring curls, calf raise)
- Week 2: Core (different types of crunches, twists and isometric holds)
- Week 3: Pulling exercises (e.g. pushups and chest press)
- Week 4: Pushing exercises (e.g. rows and pulldowns)
- Week 5: Revision, stretching, and how to design an exercise program

Who is this fitness course for?
This course is for anyone between the ages of 18 to 80 who wants to improve their strength, balance and fitness level, and is targeted towards beginners and those with limited experience.

Course materials
What to bring to class
- A pair of dumbbells
- An exercise mat (a yoga mat or similar)
- Light resistance muscle band
- Small resistance bands
- Water
- Towel
- Sunblock and hat (when necessary)
- Appropriate clothing for cooler months
