Learn to cook flavour-packed vegan Asian dishes at this cooking workshop in Sydney.

If you’ve made the choice to go vegan, or simply wanting to eat a more plant-based diet, South East Asian cuisine has much to offer: fresh herbs, veg and tofu feature prominently and dairy is rarely used. So we’re off to a great start, but how do you replace that salty punch of fish sauce? And what can you do to balance the textures and ensure there’s enough protein?

Join us for a tasty workshop to expand your repertoire and learn tips and techniques for creating delicious and totally vegan versions of some classic Asian dishes.

Whether you’re a beginner cook looking to gain some confidence in the kitchen or just looking for some inspiration, this hands on cooking class is perfect for you!

On the menu
  • Vietnamese rice paper rolls – with marinated tofu, carrot pickle and tangy dipping sauce
  • Salt & Pepper Chilli tofu – creamy silken tofu crisp fried and topped with fried chili and shallot
  • Holy basil stir fry with cashews – Vegan stir fry with bold flavours of ginger, garlic and Thai basil
  • Asian greens with enoki and shiitake mushroom – a classic side dish, flavour packed with fresh garlic and mushrooms
  • Fragrant jasmine rice - cook the perfect steamed rice at home
  • Sweet mango sago pudding - a classic cool and refreshing dessert
Course content
  • Introduction to some of the plant-based substitutes used in vegan cooking
  • Step-by-step discussion of the recipes for the workshop
  • Demonstration and hands-on cooking (in small groups) to follow recipes
  • Working with weights and measures
  • Essential knife skills

Please note: Street parking is very limited nearby. You might try St Margaret’s Car Park at 417-435 Bourke Street, Surry Hills. It is a 5-minute walk from the venue, with casual parking rates after 5pm at approx. $4/hour.

On the day...
  • We’ve cut out disposable plastics, so please bring your own food containers to take any leftovers home
  • All participants must wear closed-in shoes – no high heels please
  • Aprons supplied, but dress appropriately for the kitchen, and tie back long hair
  • Arrive up to 15 minutes before the class start time

Our class size maximum is 12. If the minimum number of 8 participants is not reached, the course may be postponed, or cancelled and a refund issued.
Please try to be punctual. Late arrivals can cause disruptions and delays for the other participants.
