Our Business Skills Essentials course is designed to build your expertise, confidence and engagement in that job market. This course will help you determine your skills, goals, areas for further development and how to work best with others.

Successful completion of the course results in a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment. The skills, insight and Attainment Statement gained from this course will prepare you for your first job or to confidently return to the workforce after a break.

So, if you are looking to build your career in business services, have you left school and are an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen, this fee-free NSW Government-subsidised course will empower you with the essential knowledge and personal attributes to get ahead. You will also learn transferable skills that can apply across a range of organisations.

This course is also available to those who do not meet the eligibility criteria but are willing to pay a fee of $199. Talk to the College about this option.

Learning outcomes

During this course, the following units of competency will be delivered and assessed:

  • BSBPEF101 - Plan and prepare for work readiness
  • BSBOPS101 - Use Business Resources
  • BSBWHS211 - Contribute to the health and safety of self and others
  • BSBPEF202 - Plan and Apply Time Management.

What will be covered in this course?

The units of competency are tailored to industry needs and relevant to a range of workplace contexts. They will give you a solid grounding in how to:

  • identify and document your current skills and related career opportunities;
  • carry out work functions using appropriate resources and time management and communication techniques;
  • seek and review feedback for performance improvement;
  • apply safe working practices and reduce risks to others; and
  • plan your future skills development;

Wednesday & Thursday, from 9am to 2.30pm

Rozelle Campus

2A Gordon Street, Rozelle NSW 2039 (corner of Gordon St & Victoria Rd in the grounds of St. Joseph's Church)

Eligibility for this course

This training is funded by the NSW Government and is fee-free to eligible participants. Eligibility criteria:

  1. Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident of Australia (certain visa holders are also eligible, ask the College for information);
  2. Be over 17 years old and have left school;
  3. Be facing barriers to employment and can get a letter of support to verify this (the College can assist with advice).

This course is also available to those who do not meet the eligibility criteria for a fee of $199.
