Course description

This course is a practical course in fashion illustration where students are exposed to techniques and skills through demonstration and then practicing example with one-on-one guidance and tuition.

Subjects covered range from basic fashion head and body, through to fabric rendering and presentation.

If you want to learn Fashion Illustration in Sydney, then this course is for you. This class is complemented by Pattern Making Essentials and Sewing Essentials

  • Satin, velvet, fur, sheers, sequins, lace, patterns and spots, stripes and gingham

What to bring
  • A3 bank pad
  • A3 tracing paper (any weight will do, doesn’t matter)
  • 30 cm clear ruler
  • mechanical pencil with HB lead
  • soft drawing pencil 2B & 6B
  • soft eraser
  • kneadable eraser (make sure it hasn’t gone hard)
  • masking tape
  • baby wipes/rags etc for cleanup
  • fashion magazine for reference

For the first class, you will need your pad and pencils, white gel pen, ruler and eraser, and fashion magazines.

Objectives

By the end of this Illustration Class, students will have:

  • Broadened their knowledge of techniques and skills used for fashion illustration
  • Identified their own strengths in regard to techniques and skills and began development of their own personal style
  • A general knowledge of fashion illustration and design industries and tips in relation to students' own interests (eg. own designs, costume design etc.)
  • A basic knowledge of layout and presentation
