Course description

Learn Silver Jewellery Enamelling in Sydney.

Dig into the art of vitreous enamelling and design a beautiful pendant, brooch or a pair of drop earrings in a variety of colours.

This is an exciting and rewarding course where you will learn to apply dry powdered glass enamels onto a copper base. Find out how to prepare your metal and how to apply layers of glass powder to create a piece of enameled jewellery.

The tutor will demonstrate various contemporary decorative techniques and you can select which one(s) you wish to use. You will have the opportunity to create 1-2 pieces during the day.

Please note, this workshop involves the use of a specialist enameling kiln and is not suited for pregnant women or those with breathing difficulties due to the fine powder enamels containing lead and other heavy metal oxides.

Course testimonials:

  • Kylie said: The course was great, I really enjoyed it & the tutor was very knowledgeable on the topic, happily answering all our questions. As a smaller group, we go through all our projects quite quickly, but I think Nedra and there would have been a queue for the kiln if the group was larger. As it was the tutor had to turn off her kiln at 2:30, and the class was supposed be to finish at 4. Maybe the school could consider purchasing their own kiln? For a small class of 5, the facilities were perfect, and I will definitely look at other classes at the College in future.

  • Deanne said: Very informative, excellent teacher but she had to bring her own kiln which was small and had to turn it off an hour before class ended so it could cool down to take home. The college should provide kilns.

  • Angela said: you really need to get a kiln for use during courses. it was an excellent course and I made beautiful things. it was great fun
